Thank You and a Call For Assistance

20 Mar

003Happy Thursday to you all.

I have a gift for you today….this is a very short message…or couple of messages.

First, to those of you who called me earlier this week as part of my challenge, thank you so much.  This was important to me.  Making meaningful connections with other writers is one of the reasons I have stayed at HubPages as long as I have. I love the community of writers I have met, and to talk to thirteen writers this week was a thrill for me. I hope some of you others take me up on the offer and call me.  It really is a thrill for me to know you better as human beings and not just some screen presence.

Next…..the working title for my novel is now “Resurrecting Tobias.”  This one works within the context of the story….so this might end up being the final.  It was that or “The Resurrection of Tobias King” but Bev and I liked the flow of the first option.  What do you think?

Lastly:  I’ll be needing readers to go over my manuscript starting next week.  This is my official call to you if you have the time.  Email me at holland1145@yahoo.com if you are interested.  The book is about 240 Word pages, or about 127,000 words.

Here’s the thing: I need it done within a week or so, so if you can’t do it I will understand.  I don’t want flowery reviews based on friendship. I want honest appraisals with suggestions regarding glow, character development, scene development, dialogue, etc.

So let me know, and in advance, thanks to you all.

That’s it for this week. I’ll be back next Tuesday with some more Artistry With Words.

Bill

I’m with you and Bev, Resurrecting Tobias for some reason does have a better sound to it than The Resurrection of Tobias King. I so wish that I had the time to read your manuscript but I’m sure that you’ll have many people that will volunteer for this, or already do.

Thank you Susan! I totally understand about the time and I appreciate you even considering it.

Bill, I seriously wish I had some extra time to read and I feel like I don’t stop right now as it is. Seriously, the girls are starting up soccer again this weekend and now my weekends agin for the next 3 months are not even relaxing anymore either. If it didn’t have to be in a week, I would definitely do it, but I hate to say yes and the. Not be done in the week’s time for you. If you want me to still and it can be longer then a week or so, then let me now. And love the new title 🙂

Janine, I know how busy you are and I know you would do it if you could..no worries…I just really appreciate you and all that you do.

Bill, I love your new title. I think it fits much better, from what you’ve presented to us on HP so far. I’d love to help you with your book, but I can’t promise I can have my feedback to you within a week. I don’t want to make a promise I can’t keep. If you don’t get any takers, call or email me. I’ll make the time.

    • Billybuc March 20, 2014 at 4:08 pm #

I will, Sha, and thank you so much for the offer. Glad you like the title.

Hi Bill–seems like I should give you an answer yea or nay right now–let me ponder it a bit

    • Billybuc March 20, 2014 at 4:09 pm #

Audrey, I appreciate you even considering it. Thank you!

Oh, Bill I’m probably going to be the one who goes against the norm here. I kind of like “The Resurrection of Tobias King”. I don’t know why. Maybe I’m thinking the longer title tells me that a story is about to be told, whereas the shorter title is only going to be about a resurrection. I don’t know what’s valid about my thoughts, but whatever the title, the book will still be a winner.

    • Billybuc March 20, 2014 at 4:21 pm #

Thanks for your input, Marlene. We haven’t settled for sure on the first; thus I’m asking for input and I appreciate yours.

    Would love to!

What great response. I have the coolest friends in the world…thanks to you all.

This sounds like a fascinating book. I know I could finish it in a day or two, but I am afraid to commit. It seems that every time I have tried to commit to something this month I have been derailed. This may sound like I am riding the fence but I liked both of the titles. I am sure that whatever you pick will be brilliant. I am looking forward to reading the book when you are done.

    • Billybuc March 20, 2014 at 5:04 pm #

TL, thank you very much. I hope it’s as good as people are expecting it to be. 🙂

If I wasn’t so busy I would Bill. Sorry, but I have several freelancing gigs all happening at once here.

    • Billybuc March 20, 2014 at 5:08 pm #

I understand, Greg, and I appreciate the thought. Good luck with those projects.

Hi Bill, count me in! I sent an email to your yahoo address.

    • Billybuc March 20, 2014 at 5:47 pm #

I got it and replied, Mary. Thank you!

    Love it!

    • Billybuc March 20, 2014 at 8:30 pm #

Thanks Lizzy! We played with Prime Redemption for awhile, but couldn’t make “prime” work in the book…and redemption led to resurrection in some weird association thing my brain does. LOL

      • Clear-eyed Sky March 24, 2014 at 2:30 pm #

What can I say? We make a great team. 🙂

I love Resurrecting Tobias! It definitely does roll…I was thinking about titles for your book because – to be honest – i wasn’t thrilled with your last working title (nor the first truth be told)
This one has PUNCH! Also – there won’t be 1000 other books with the same title – which your last one would have..
i wish i could read your ms Bill-bro! but i don’t read much since the anxiety diagnosis – i don’t know why.
Also – i could never do it in a week – i’m so so sorry…
I know you’ll have tons of folks who can – and WILL – help you out!
i can’t wait to hear the first murmurs…xx
(i had thoughts like – ‘the twenty-third hour’ or ‘Getting There’…maybe even ‘the last hangover’ or ‘the hangover to end all hangovers’….lol)
    HUGSxx

Sis, you are a doll. Thank you! Yep, this new title feels right, and I already wrote it into the book, so I think we are settled finally on a name. Thank you for your support….love to you.

Sounds like a really interesting book is coming our way. If you are not needing a response before end of April, I can help out after the 2 of April and return it within a week with notations. I will email you.

So sorry, would love to help you out and read for you, but I just don’t have the time in the next week. Hope it all works out and you have a New York Time’s best seller! :0)   Karen E. Hellier

No problem Karen. Thank you for even considering it and for the best wishes.

Sounds of your voice echoing still in my mind. You’re a remarkable friend Bill Holland.Wish to have more “resources ” to assist you with the manuscript. As far as the tittle,( just my thinking )- (( IF )) resurrection means to bring back from the dead, the supernatural action is above our domain — what is though in our potential , my suggestion would be ” Reviving Tobias King “– as indicating in samples you’ve given us to read in some hub’s illustration …
Thanks for set setting altitude in flying…

    • Billybuc March 21, 2014 at 4:13 am #

Michael my friend, it was a joy talking to you. Our friendship will continue to grow and that fills me with happiness.

Thank you for your thoughts on the title. I will discuss it with Bev.

      Blessings always my friend

Hi Bill, You would help me with my English learning if this is what the Dictionary explains: Resurrecting as an act, reviving as a process- the dictionary elaboration fabulous.
Have a blessed day my friend.

      • Billybuc March 21, 2014 at 2:03 pm #

Michael, that is the literal meaning of it. However, in English, it can also be used to mean “reviving” or to start over. 🙂 Hope that helps.

Have a wonderful day my friend.

  15. Ruchira Khanna March 21, 2014 at 4:03 pm #

The title sure is very alluring, Bill

But one week is too short of time for me to review…I wish you the best, friend!

    • Billybuc March 21, 2014 at 4:22 pm #

Thank you Ruchira! I appreciate your input.

  16. Michael Milec March 21, 2014 at 5:14 pm #

Hi again. Now it’s time to get serious LOL. What “lol” stands for anyway? …
Thank you my friend for the latest explanation of “reviving”.Seems to me that besides my ‘ ‘biblos’- meaning “the book” – English-English dictionary, one need to read and understend the ” literal” according to its own “religious” tradition . (Where to look now for the …)
    Have a wonderful weekend. Always.

    • Billybuc March 21, 2014 at 6:33 pm #

Michael, LOL is an acronym meaning “laughing out loud.”

The English language must seem like a real mystery for those who speak another language. I can’t begin to imagine how hard it must be.

Have a blessed weekend my friend

Another great title…. they’re all good, Bill and I’m sure the one you choose as the final title will compliment the book perfectly. It’s raining here today – autumn is finally, finally here. Hope you’re enjoying the spring and sunshine on that side. Have a great week my friend 🙂

    • Billybuc March 24, 2014 at 2:43 pm #

Thanks, Mel, but I changed the title again. LOL Spring is here today for sure and thank goodness for it. Enjoy that rain and again, thank you for being you.
