Be a Yardstick of Quality

18 Jul

003Happy Friday!  There was a time, not too long ago, when you had to pull me away from my computer kicking and screaming.  I’m happy to announce that now, when Friday’s arrive, I have absolutely no problem walking away from my writing for the weekend.

Today let’s talk about quality control.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected.

Steve Jobs

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

I think there is a real danger among freelance writers to try and take on too much.  After all, making money is an important reason why many are writing.  I don’t believe it should be the only reason, but I’m realist enough to know it is important.  So we rush and we rush, and we try to do a blog and submit to magazines and write a book and find customers and….and….

We end up doing a shabby job of it all.

I am a stickler for quality.  I believe writing is almost a sacred calling.  There are few in the world who can do what we do, and we really need to make sure we are doing it well.

Do not be in a rush to write a book.  Take your time and make it the best book possible.  Do not feel you need to do a blog post a day if it means quality suffers.  Make your blog the best online blog imaginable, and if that means only posting twice a week then so be it.

You are the manager of your business, and you are the quality control foreman.

THANK YOU OF THE DAY

A SHORT ONE TODAY

Hey, it’s Friday, and I simply do not feel like writing more today.  Have a great weekend, and come back Monday refreshed and ready to light the world on fire with your words.

I am so with you on Friday and the weekends and I know we have talked about this, but I couldn’t agree more as you know and truly do live to enjoy the weekends now with Kevin and the girls. Have a wonderful weekend yet again, Bill!! 🙂

Its okay, Bill that today’s post was short after all, it is the quality that counts, not the quantity. Sometimes you need to get out and enjoy life if you want to write with quality!

Donna, short, in this case, is much better than long. Have a wonderful weekend.

Bill, I’m lucky if I post to my blog once a month lately. HP might see two posts per month and my novel is coming along slowly. Right now I’m concentrating my writing on making money. That has to take priority.

Enjoy your weekend. I hope to finish Resurrecting Tobias this weekend and get in some yard work.

Hugs to you and Bev from me!

We do what we have to do, Sha. Those projects will be done when you can, and they will be done well, because that’s who you are. Hugs right back atcha.
