Look at me, coming up with another posting this week. I call that progress my friends.
I would be remiss if I didn’t thank all of you who voted for me on the HubPages Hubbie Awards. Thank you so much. Your support means everything to me.
And now let’s start this off with a quote and then get down to the nitty gritty.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
“It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.”
Charles Spurgeon
I don’t have a clue who Charles Spurgeon is, but I love his attitude.
THOUGHT OF THE DAY
I received an email from a writer friend yesterday. Her name isn’t important, but what she had to say was. She was stressing over not being able to find information she needed for her novel. She was concerned that she would not be accurate in her facts, and the stress this caused was actually causing her physical pain from a previous ailment.
Stop right there!
The stress from writing was causing her physical pain.
Take a deep breath.
I’ll tell you what I told her: writing is supposed to be enjoyable. I’m assuming that most of us do this because we love it. If that assumption is correct, then the next assumption is correct as well: our lover should never cause us pain.
Enjoy what you are doing. There is a very small percentage of humanity that can do what you do, so sit back and give yourself a pat on the back for a job well-done. A certain amount of stress is normal. Maybe we have a deadline to meet, or whatever….but if we lose sight of the passion and enjoyment that writing once gave us, then writing will become a task and not an enjoyable ride of whimsy.
TIP OF THE DAY
Allow yourself to be human. There will be pitfalls in writing. There will be days when you don’t accomplish what you think you should. Oh well! Never lose sight of the fact that writing is, or should be, a joy.
I’LL LEAVE YOU WITH THAT
That’s enough for you to chew on today. I want you to enjoy the journey. You have a gift. Be happy that you do.

Huge congrats on your Hubbie Award and did see it today in the e-mail. Seriously, if anyone does deserve that award, it is you 100 times over! So happy and proud of you!! And just had to tell you that. Been a bit crazy here, but was hoping you would post it here and I could tell you myself! Happy Thursday, too again and again huge congrats 🙂 🙂
Janine, thank you very much. Awards don’t mean much to me, but your respect means a great deal. You are a doll and I appreciate you greatly.
Sometimes all it takes is walking away for a bit. Let your mind wander and have the freedom to take a break. Give it a mini-vacation. We all need a break from time to time.
I do it daily, Sha. I walk out back and visit the animals. 🙂
Thanks, Bill, I needed to hear this!
My pleasure, Denise. Glad this helped, and thank you for the visit.
Congratulations on the Hubbie Award–so well deserved Bill! And thank you for the reminder that writing should be enjoyable–it is easy to forget that
Awww, thanks, Audrey. I’m just doing what I love to do, and hanging with some very talented people.
Congratulations Bill on the Hubbie award – well deserved, my friend! You are doing great things over there! I am also giving thumbs up to your comment to “be human” as we all make mistakes and no one is perfect ((hugs))
Thank you so much, Christy! I just love this community and I love writing…it’s the perfect life. 🙂 Hugs coming your way.
Congrats Bill on the hubbie award. I could not have imagined any one better than you, my friend!
Keep inspiring us with your talk cause yes, I agree what you love should not cause you pain.
Thank you for the kind words, Ruchira. This community is very important to me.
Good on ya Bill! It’s short and sweet – but it’s HERE, and that’s what counts!
Writing is supposed to be enjoyable, but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy either..
I, er…feel her pain..
lol
Have a great weekendxx
Thanks Sis! I tried to leave a comment yesterday on yours but failed miserably. LOL
I feel for that sweet lady. If we lose our joy of writing, then we either need to take a break or refocus on our passion. It is not an easy career but the personal rewards and reaching our goals is our gauge of success.
Very true, Dianna. I think I calmed her down and talked her off of the ledge. LOL Have a great weekend, Dee!
I can’t imagine not writing, it’s become a big part of my life. Thank you for all of your encouragement..
Ruby, I can’t imagine you not writing either. You are very welcome, and thank you.
