So here’s the thing: nobody knows what a writer goes through except another writer. Bev is as supportive as any spouse can possibly be, but she really has no clue what I go through daily, and I suspect the same is true for your significant others.
And how can they know? While they are off doing their own “normal” job, we are spending seemingly every waking moment writing words to a public we can’t see, in hopes that we can make some money in a business where there are no guarantees.
We can quite possibly…quite probably…work for months on a project, knowing we may never see a penny from that project.
We put our fragile egos on the line daily when we hit the “publish” button, not knowing if we will be accepted or rejected as serious writers.
How can anyone other than a writer understand that?
So here’s what I want you to do…..
TIP OF THE DAY
Pat yourself on the back for a job well-done. Do something nice for you this weekend….a little treat…some quiet time in a hot tub…a walk in nature..a decadent treat at the store…treat yourself like the royalty that you are.
You are one of a very small group of people in the world who do what we do. You are capable of turning words into beauty. You are capable of bringing sunshine into the lives of people who have always known storm clouds. That, my friends, is special, and so are you.
Toss aside those self-doubts and know that what you do is important. You may never see monetary gains, but that does not diminish the importance of what you do.
Be proud! You are a writer!

You made me smile seeing the title of this post, “Hooray for You” – love it Bill! 🙂 You’re right, writing is a tough and thankless job. I finally published my fitness eBook on Friday – will add the link on Facebook a bit later – and I took myself out for an ice cream that morning to celebrate. It is sweltering this side today – could do with another one of those right about now! Hope you’re having an awesome day that side!
