And here we are in the second week of October already. One wouldn’t know it by looking at the weather we are having in Olympia. A bit of a distraction for this writer, but I know the rains and the cold will be here soon, so I’m not complaining.
But, since we’re talking about distractions…..
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Jack Canfield
I’ve got two words to say about this quote: Boy howdy!
THOUGHT OF THE DAY
I don’t know why you are writers. I don’t know what your goals are. Maybe you want to be a novelist, or maybe your goal is to simply make money online. Whatever the case may be, you cannot allow distractions to side-track you or discourage you.
Has anyone heard of Panda? Of course you have, and I was somewhat amused by the reactions of online writers the last time Panda came to visit. Understand, that situation was completely out of the hands of writers, and yet many acted like the world had come to an end, and they started making radical adjustments, and some even got discouraged and quit.
Concentrate on what you can control and not some random online adjustment.
If you are receiving a ton of rejections, then make adjustments. If you aren’t making money the way you want to, then adjust, but for goodness sake, keep your eyes on the goal and don’t let distractions waylay you.
TIP OF THE DAY
If you don’t have your goals taped above your computer then do so. We all need to keep our eyes on the prize that awaits us.
REVIEW OF THE DAY
I received a nice review for my novel, Resurrecting Tobias….you can follow the link below.

PROMPT OF THE DAY
What are you doing for New Years Eve? Got any plans to party?
That’s your prompt, by the way, and I chose it for a reason: you need to write seasonal articles in advance. If you plan on writing a New Year’s Eve article, you need to write it now. Plan on three-to-six months in advance.
INTERVIEW OF THE DAY
I was recently interview by my friend Christy on her site Poetic Parfait, and you can find that interview here.
WRITER OF THE DAY
My good friend Melanie Chisnall recently published a new fitness ebook, and you can find it on Amazon by following this link.
AND THE END OF THE DAY
But there will be more on Thursday…or Friday…whenever I get around to it.
Have a great week of writing.
Bill

Congrats on your great review –I have a terrible time with goals–setting them is difficult and staying on track even more so–not sure what that all means–but there you are–I don’t know how you do all the things you do!
Audrey, I think it means what you say it means. 🙂 I have no idea, really, whether it is good or bad to have goals. I’ve always had them…but I’m not sure that’s great. LOL Have a great day my friend.
So much good here is okay and definitely try my best to always have a positive outlook as much as possible, too. Congrats on the great book teview and also very much enjoyed your guest post over at Christy’s blog, too. Happy Tuesday and enjoy the weather for sure 🙂
Thank you always, Janine…I really was happy with the review and interview…very good people I know. 🙂
Excellent review and interview, Bill! I enjoyed watching the video of Toby (again). Both times I watched it I wondered why Toby didn’t face the camera. Was he talking to no one in particular? Reflecting?
The weather here is finally starting to cool down. Humidity seems to be a thing of the past and there’s a nice breeze. Temp right now is 83, which is much better than the 90s we had up until this past weekend!
Enjoy the rest of your week, Bill.
Toby is a reflecting kind of guy, Sha, and not much for the camera. 🙂 Kind of like me.
Yikes….too hot there even now. I’m quite pleased with our current 55. 🙂
love,
bill
To me, 55 is cold. We’re in the low 60s in the mornings. I have to put my housecoat on to have my morning coffee outside!
LOL….it’s amazing how we acclimate as a species.
So proud of you Bill for all of the success you are having with the book and writing in general! I am waving my pom-poms now (and know all about distractions, wow, where is today going so quickly?!!). HUGS
Christy, you look great waving those pom poms. 🙂 Thank you dear friend. Tomorrow is a new day, and hopefully one without distractions. Hugs coming back atcha.
Couldn’t agree more Bill-bro! Lately, i’ve been distracted by near-death…lol
Oops!
Sis, that’s one distraction that we don’t need. Glad you are on the mend dear friend.
Hello master writer, teacher and exhorter. Can life exist without distraction ? Worst could happen when pile up discouragement tempting to quit.
Good evening my friend.
Good evening Michael my friend. No, I do not believe life exists without distraction, and I believe that is a very good thing.
Sleep well my friend
bill
What a delightful surprise to visit your blog today and see you mention my book – thank you Bill! 🙂 So true what you say about distractions and focus and not stressing about controlling what you can’t fix. I’ve gotten into the habit lately of just going with the flow, because at the end of the day, we can plan and shape our lives, but ultimately there’s a plan in place for all of us. Right now I’m waiting to see if I was successful in an interview on Wednesday. What will be will be – I’m at total peace one way or the other. Though, going back to a full day writing job would take some getting used to again! We are so spoilt working from home – you don’t realise it until you might not be. Have a great weekend my friend! 🙂
Very true, Mel, we are spoiled working from home, and I love every minute of it. Best wishes on the interview and the book, and it was my pleasure to mention it.
Good advice for today’s writers when technology is constantly upgrading and updating our sites. It is the way things are and if you let it get to you it will deter you from reaching goals. Hope all is well up there in your neck of the woods. I imagine the weather is just right. 🙂
Thanks Dianna! The weather is finally changing and fall is definitely here now. Hope you are doing well in sunny Florida.
