The Holiday Break

16 Dec

003Today is Tuesday, December 16, 2014, and I welcome you back to my writing blog.  I have a special Christmas present for you, but let’s start, first, with a quote.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

Every gift which is given, even though is be small, is in reality great, if it is given with affection.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

We get so busy.  During the holidays, life has us spinning in circles.  Am I right or am I right?

If you are a writer, you of course have your deadlines and to-do list, but besides all that, you have your families, and Christmas shopping, and running willy-nilly to and fro for last-minutes preparations.

Whew!

Last year I remember writing an article on Christmas Day.

This year I’ll be taking Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off.  I deserve it, and my mind needs it.

And you deserve it too!

GIFT OF THE DAY

I’m going to give you one less thing to read during the next ten days.  This blog will take the rest of the Christmas season off, but I’ll be back with it shortly after Christmas.  You have more than enough to do without feeling that you need to read this blog out of loyalty, and I know many of you would do just that.

So Merry Christmas from our family to yours. Thank you for your loyal following and your friendship. I think you know how much I appreciate you.

    Merry Christmas, Bill!

This December I’m taking the time to re-vamp my brand. Or define it, I should say. I find December is a great time to do this. Many bloggers, authors, and editors, take December off because, well – simply put – our minds are elsewhere.

I know for me, being a single mom, Christmas falls entirely on my shoulders. Well, except for hanging the outdoor lights. My son does that. But I have to shop, plan the meal, make the grocery list, send out Christmas cards (watch your mailbox), bake cookies and pies, then take two days to put Christmas dinner on the table. It can be overwhelming if you don’t give yourself a break and redirect or lessen the day to day multi-tasking.

Taking a break gives us the opportunity to set up a bang-up-balls-to-the-walls plan for the new year.

You deserve a break. You’ve been balls-to-the-walls for as long as I’ve known you. Plus you’re increasing your urban farm on top of it! Take the time to enjoy and no guilty feelings allowed! Don’t make me come over there!! 🙂

Sha, I promise, I’m going to gear it down for the holidays. I’ve already got my plan written up for the rest of the month, so no worries. Thanks for sharing your hectic month, and I love your idea of reflection and planning for next year.

      love,
      bill

Truly must be reading my mind today. As I just wrote up my final blog post for before Christmas next week, which will go live next Monday (the 22nd) with our family Christmas card and Christmas wishes in it, too. Just like you am taking time off to enjoy my family for Christmas this year and after only taking a day here or there prolonged weekends and such this past year, I truly am excited and totally think I deserve it. So, I am truly glad you are too, because if anyone does deserve it, you truly are one who does, Bill. Merry Christmas to you, Bev and your family, too (I am sure I will say this again though before it is all said and done, but couldn’t resist saying it here).

Janine, good for you. You deserve it as much as any writer, and I’m glad to hear you are backing off for the rest of the month. Merry Christmas to you and your family, and thank you for being such a loyal friend.

I too will be taking a break Friday onwards until new year’s eve. Need that break more so since kid’s holidays so creativity will be in the other direction…lol

    See you next year 🙂

I understand that completely, Ruchira. As a former single parent, most of my energies went to my child. Now I love the freedom. 🙂 Happy holidays to you and your family.

Thanks for all the inspiration and support over this past year Billy. You have a well deserved break. I hope you and yours have a very festive Christmas, take long walks in the snow (hopefully) together. Soak in all what nature has to give and enjoy working off all the Christmas grub. I wish you all very joyous Christmas.

Merry Christmas, Zulma. Just a break from blogging….everything else about my day will be normal, or as close to normal as I can get over the holidays. Thank you!

I agree. Writers need to take a break during the Christmas season. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas with Bev and all your loved ones.
